CHENNAI: Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) leader and central Chennai candidate Hyder Ali, on Wednesday, alleged that DMK candidate Dayanidhi Maran’s associates had asked him not to contest from the central Chennai constituency.

Speaking to The New Indian Express Hyder Ali said, “I and my friends have been approached by people associated with Dayanidhi Maran. They had asked me to not contest from the central Chennai constituency.”

He said that he was offered ‘incentives’ to shift constituency, “They (DMK) promised to take care of my election expenses in any other constituency.”

Rejecting Maran’s chances of winning from central Chennai, he said, “Maran cannot be close to the people, like we are. How can someone who cannot be close to even the party cadre, be close to the people?”

He attributed Maran’s previous victory to the support by the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK), the predecessor of MMK, “Last time he won because of our support. This time the results of central Chennai are going to be shocking to the State’s political leaders. Moreover, they were exposed due to their family problems and people have realised their true nature.” The Towheet Jamaat’s support for the DMK would further alienate Muslim voters, from the DMK, who form around 30 per cent of the electorate in the constituency according to Ali, “It is good if the Towheet Jamaat expresses support for the DMK. It will influence undecided voters to vote in our favour, because it will be clear to these voters as to who is honest.”

Speaking about AIADMK’s candidate Mohammed Ali Jinnah he said, “The mood is anti-DMK and if Muslim voters want to vote against the DMK they would not prefer the AIADMK. Now we have provided an alternative to them.”

“In any case the people of Tamil Nadu are beyond religious differences and will vote for those who will serve them,” he said.

07.05.2009 ஆம் தேதி வெளியாகி உள்ள நியூ இந்தியன் எக்ஸ்பிரஸில் வேட்பாளர் ஹைதர்அலியின் நேர்காணல் வெளியாகியிருந்ததது. அதில் மத்திய சென்னை மனிதநேய மக்கள் கட்சியின் மத்திய சென்னை வேட்பாளர் ஹைதர் அலி பேட்டியளித்திருந்தார் அதில்,

ஹைதர் அலி எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் செய்தியாளரிடம் இது குறித்து கூறும்போது ''தன்னையும் தனது சகாக்களையும் தயாநிதிமாறனின் ஆட்கள் அணுகி மத்திய சென்னையில் போட்டியிட வேண்டாம் என வற்புறுத்தியதாக தெரிவித்தார். அதோடு பெரும் தொகை தருவதாகவும் வேறு தொகுதியில் போட்டியிடுங்கள் என்றும், அவ்வாறு வேறு தொகுதியில் போட்டியிட்டால் அதற்கான அனைத்துச் செலவுகளையும் அவர்களே (தயாகும்பல்) பார்த்துக் கொள்வதாகவும், கூறியதாகவும்'' ஹைதர் அலி தெரிவித்தார். மத்திய சென்னையில் தயாநிதிமாறனின் வெற்றி வாய்ப்பை மறுத்த ம.ம.க வேட்பாளர் எங்களைப் போல் மக்களோடு அவர்களால் ஒன்றிப் பழக முடியாது. இணைந்த பணியாற்ற முடியாது. கட்சிக்காரர்களோடு கூட நெருங்கிப் பழக முடியாத ஒருவர், சாதாரண மக்களோடு எவ்வாறு நெருங்கி வருவார் என்றும் செ. ஹைதர் அலி வினா விடுத்தார்.

இதற்கு முன்பு தயாநிதிமாறன் பெற்ற வெற்றி தமிழ்நாடு முஸ்லிம் முன்னேற்றக் கழகத்தின் பேராதரவினால் கிடைத்த வெற்றியாகும். இந்த மக்களவைத் தேர்தலின் முடிவு தமிழ்நாட்டில் உள்ள அரசியல் தலைவர்களுக்கு அதிர்ச்சியை வழங்கும். மக்கள் உண்மையை உணர்ந்து விட்டார்கள்.

தமிழ்நாடு தவ்ஹீத் ஜமாத் திமுகவுக்கு ஆதரவு தெரிவித்துள்ளதின் மூலம் முஸ்லிம் வாக்காளர்களை விட்டு திமுக மேலும் அந்நியப்படுத்தி விட்டது. தவ்ஹீத் ஜமாத் திமுகவுக்கு ஆதரவு தெரிவித்ததனால் இதுவரை யாருக்கு ஓட்டுப் போடுவது என முடிவெடுக்காமல் இருந்த வாக்காளர்கள் அனைவரும் எங்களுக்கு ஆதரவாகவே வாக்களிப்பார்கள். நேர்மையாளர்கள் யார்? என்பதை அது தெளிவு படுத்தும்' என்றார்.

அ.தி.மு.க வேட்பாளர் முஹம்மது அலி ஜின்னாவைப் பற்றி கூறும்போது வாக்காளர்கள் திமுகவுக்கு எதிரான மனநிலையில் இருக்கிறார்கள். முஸ்லிம் வாக்காளர்கள் தி.மு.கவுக்கு எதிராக வாக்களிப்பார்கள். அ.தி.மு.க.வுக்கு வாக்களிப்பது குறித்து பரிசீலிக்கவே மாட்டார்கள். நாங்கள் மக்களுக்கு மாற்றத்தினை வழங்குவோம்' என்றார்.
